HKU welcomes applications from candidates with different educational backgrounds. Candidates are required to satisfy each of the followings for the basic University Entrance Requirements:
- General academic requirements under either International Qualifications or National Qualifications;
- English language requirement; and
- Second language requirement.
(THE INFORMATION LISTED IN THE ABOVE FILES IS FOR REFERENCE ONLY AND MAY BE REVISED BY THE UNIVERSITY FROM TIME TO TIME.)
Qualifications from countries which are not listed in the above files will be considered based on individual merits. In assessing qualifications, the University's main concern is to ensure that candidates have had an educational background which enables them to successfully complete the degree and benefit from studying in the university.
Specific Programme Requirements
Some programmes have additional entrance requirements for local candidates. Candidates not taking local examinations are expected to fulfil these subject requirements at equivalent level. Please refer to Appendix III of the Undergraduate Prospectus (3-year curriculum) and Appendix II of the Undergraduate Prospectus (4-year curriculum) for such specific programme requirements.
Please note that admission is on a competitive basis. Candidates having satisfied the minimum entrance requirements are eligible to apply for admission, which however does not necessarily guarantee admission to the University.
