HKU's Vision
The University of Hong Kong, as a leading international institution of higher learning in Asia, strives to attract and nurture outstanding scholars from around the world through excellence and innovation in teaching and learning, research and knowledge exchange, contributing to the advancement of society and the development of leaders through a global presence, regional significance and engagement with the rest of China.
The University of Hong Kong has admitted some of the best students in Hong Kong through the Early Admissions Scheme (EAS) since 2002. EAS students are expected to meet and learn with a great variety of high-achievers from Hong Kong and the rest of the world.
Academic
Among any participating UGC (government)-funded institution, we had the largest number of the following:
- EAS applications
- EAS applicants placing HKU programmes as their first choice
- EAS applicants who have received an admission offer
- EAS applicants admitted with 7 to 10 'A's in HKCEE (% of total number of HK students with 7 to 10 'A's)
- JUPAS applicants admitted with 3 to 6 'A's in HKALE (% of total number of HK students with 3 to 6 'A's)
- Percentage of students admitted with Grade A in Use of English
Research
Among any participating UGC (government)-funded institution,
- We have the largest amount of competitive funding (9 times in the past 10 exercises)
- We have the highest number of publications published in journals tracked by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI)
- We have over 100 professors who have been ranked as being among the world’s top 1% of scientists based on the number of citations recorded in their publications
Scholarship & Prizes
- We have around 2,500 scholarships and prizes, worth more than HK$20 million in total, available each year for our undergraduate students.
- The HKU Foundation Entrance Scholarship Scheme was established specifically to provide support for EAS students who demonstrate excellence in academic endeavours.
